Rehearsals followed a format of free writing periods, using choreographic devices to devise vocabulary from written responses, a section of time to freestyle to music brought in by the Cohort, building group choreography, and life check-ins.

 

Outside of rehearsal, I scheduled Outings that required the Cohort to travel to places that cultivated fellowship and evoked everyday black movement. The three scheduled outings were a potluck dinner at my house, a trip to a fabric store, and a night of roller skating.
